The Director of Transportation in Michigan, Kirk Steudle has been appointed as unpaid interim chief executive officer and president of the CAV testing and proving ground the American Center for Mobility.
This is in addition to his role as the director of the Michigan Department of Transportation and the organisation’s board says he is not a candidate for the permanent position.
Steudle has been with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) since 1987, latterly managing MDOT’s $4.7 billion annual budget and is responsible for the construction, maintenance and operation of nearly 10,000 miles of state highways and more than 4,000 state highway bridges.
He has chaired the Transportation Research Board executive committee, was president of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and has been a member of the AASHTO Board of Directors since 2006. He’s also a national leader in the development of connected vehicle technology, including serving as chair of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America Board of Directors and serving as a member of its Program Advisory Committee to DOT.
Kirk Steudle will be the keynote speaker at the forthcoming ITS (UK) Summit which takes place in November at the Bristol Harbour Hotel.
