LA to host World Congress 2022
In a change to the planned order of ITS World Congresses, it’s been announced that Los Angeles will host the event in 2022.
The city was meant to host it this autumn, but that was cancelled and replaced with some online content thanks to restrictions around travel due to Covid-19.
Now it’s been announced that the Los Angeles Convention Center (pictured) will host in 2022 while the Chinese city of Suzhou is postponing its hosting of the event a year to 2023 breaking the three year cycle for each of the three host regions (Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas).
“Los Angeles is the perfect venue for the 28th ITS World Congress. Given the necessity of cancelling this year’s event there, we are particularly pleased to showcase it in 2022,” said ITS America President & CEO Shailen Bhatt. “It is a city in which smart mobility is transforming how people get around, which clearly aligns with our vision at ITS America: a better future transformed by mobility – one that is safer, greener and smarter.”
Next year’s event is planned to take place in Hamburg with Europe also hosting the event in 2024. Birmingham is one of three cities on the shortlist for that year with evaluation of its NEC-based bid taking place at the moment.
