Hospital at WC candidate venue ready for patients
The temporary Nightingale Hospital built at the possible site of the 2024 ITS World Congress is ready to take patients.
NHS Nightingale Hospital Birmingham at the National Exhibition Centre is being built to provide extra capacity if needed to deal any increase in patients during the peak of coronavirus.
An initial 500 fully-equipped beds have been installed at the NEC near Birmingham Airport to support patients with COVID-19 who may no longer need intensive hospital care.
The facility will have the ability to scale up quickly to 4,000 beds, if needed.
The West Midlands is one of three venues hoping to win the right to hold the 2024 Congress. The bid is strongly supported by ITS (UK).
