Birmingham one of three in running for ITS WC 2024
ERTICO – ITS Europe has announced that three cities, Birmingham, Zurich and Dubai have submitted bids to host the ITS World Congress 2024.
The organisation says the city of Padua, Seville and Toulouse are keen to host the ITS European Congress in 2022 or 2023.
If Birmingham wins, in a bid strongly supported by ITS (UK), it will be held at the National Exhibition Centre (pictured).
âThe solutions implemented in the host city of one of our Congresses stay onâ, said ERTICO CEO Jacob Bangsgaard. âDuring the 2018 ITS World Congress in Copenhagen, for instance, together with local public authorities and suppliers we launched a MaaS application that is still in use today. Another good example was the 2015 ITS World Congress in Bordeaux, where we ran many tests on C-ITS. Such solutions are still being used in the city, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions and improving emergency services â.
ERTICO says applying to become the host of an ITS Congress is a good chance for stakeholders in a country to come together and set a solid basis for future collaboration.
Good luck to all the applicant cities!
