ITS United Kingdom promotes UK ITS at the 2012 ITS World Congress
The 2012 ITS World Congress was held in October in Vienna. The Congress alternates between Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas. The 2011 Congress took place in Orlando and the 2013 event will be held in Tokyo. The European leg of the event is of course of particular relevance to ITS United Kingdom, the Intelligent Transport Systems association for the UK, and the association organised a pavilion stand in the exhibition associated with the Congress, where nine ITS (UK) Members showcased themselves, and where the 200 UK visitors could base themselves and catch up with colleagues.
The stand also attracted visits from ITS (UK)’s large range of established foreign contacts, ranging from New Zealand through Qatar and Nigeria to Canada. Many new overseas contacts were also made, which will benefit Members in the future.
The ITS (UK) Members on the stand were: TRL, innovITS ADVANCE, Techspan, CA Traffic, Mouchel, Mott MacDonald, NavTech Radar, IBI, the IET and Image Sensing Systems Europe.
John D’Arcy from Mott MacDonald, one of the stand participants, said: “We were delighted with how delegates engaged with the ITS United Kingdom stand at the World Congress in Vienna. Mott MacDonald fielded enquiries from around the world, which shows that ITS development and deployment in the UK continues to be at the forefront of global best practice. In particular, we had great interest in our latest transport management system Osprey and our crisis management system Merlin, as well as the work we presented in the congress technical sessions on managed motorways. We look forward to being a part of the ITS UK team at future events.”
Gavin Jackman of TRL said: “ The World ITS Congress in Vienna was a very productive week for the TRL team, and truly global, with significant client contacts from every continent. Being part of the ITS UK stand gave us better quality traffic, improved brand visibility, better value for money and much less hassle than an independent stand.”
