ITS (UK), the Intelligent Transport Systems membership association for all who work in ITS in the UK, is delighted to announce that our International Director, Richard Harris of Xerox, has been awarded the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award by ERTICO – ITS Europe and will be inducted into the ITS Hall of Fame during the ITS World Congress in Bordeaux in October.  The honour reflects Richard’s many years of leadership and innovation in the international ITS field.  As International Director of ITS (UK), Richard has overseen the establishment of an international contacts network unparallelled at the level of national ITS associations, and ensured that ITS (UK) is known and respected around the world.

Commenting on Richard’s award, the Chairman of ITS (UK), Dr Alan Stevens of TRL, said: This recognition is richly deserved.  Richard has worked tirelessly and for many years through ITS (UK) for the benefit of the international ITS community.”

Reacting to the award, Richard said “I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to be elected to the ITS Hall of Fame. To receive the same award as Fotis Karamitsos and Job Klijnhout, both friends and an inspiration, leaves me rather overwhelmed. I think it is an excellent reflection on how ITS (UK) is percieved internationally”

Members benefit from ITS United Kingdom activities including seminars, workshops and regular news dissemination. ITS United Kingdom encourages discussion on issues such as public/private co-operation, standards, legislation, information provision and new technology.
