The ITS World Congress in Bordeaux 5-9 October 2015 saw the first annual Award made for the best action taken to promote the creation of an ITS workforce which reflects the clients and users of the ITS being supplied and managed.  Depending on the location and the organisation, this of course involves addressing a range of issues, often interlinked.   The Award was open to any organisation or individual anywhere in the world.

The Award is the latest contribution by an international team which has worked to use the ITS World Congresses to promote a more inclusive and diverse ITS workforce since the Stockholm Congress of 2009.

The submissions were judged by an eminent panel of ITS professionals representing the three regions of the ITS world:

  • Americas – Jane Lappin, US and Susan Spencer, Canada
  • Asia Pacific – Susan Harris, Australia and Grace Ong, Singapore
  • Europe & Africa – Evelinde Grassenegger, Austria and Suku Phull, UK

The winning entry was Mouchel Ltd’s support for the ITS (UK) Women in ITS group, particularly for the encouragement given to female staff to participate.

Accepting the Award from ERTICO – ITS Europe’s Chairman Cees de Wijs, Ian Patey, Head of Profession at Mouchel said:  “I am delighted that Mouchel’s achievements and efforts in promoting diversity in our ITS business has been recognised within the international ITS community.  This is a prestigious award and one that we are proud to receive.  ITS is an exciting industry that makes a difference to the daily lives of millions of people across the world and it is really important that we provide opportunities for people from all the communities that we serve.  There has never been a better time to make a career in ITS.”

The Award will be made again in 2016 in connection with the ITS World Congress in Melbourne.
