MaaS Scotland, Innovate UK and the Knowledge Transfer Network are working together to host a Rural Connected Transport workshop in Scotland. In the past, events such as Mobility as a Service ( MaaS ) workshops have identified a range of regional services, operations and business models developed for running Transport in Rural areas. However, these best practices are not commonly shared across Local Authority boundaries.
The aim of the workshop is to bring rural Local Authourites together, for instance Welsh and Scottish authorities, those who would not normally meet, but have the same rural challenges in their individual regions.
The workshop will bring together experts from across Scotland and the rest of the UK to investigate Future Mobility and MaaS in Rural areas.
This workshop will address:
- Common Challenges to rural transport deployment
- Current Solutions and discussion on best practice
- Sustainable business models and expectations of Local Authorities
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a number of speakers as they discuss their own experiences in this area, providing case studies which will highlight challenges, solutions and lessons learned. Participants will then take part in some interactive sessions that will explore best practice principles for Rural Transport deployment.
Confirmed speakers so far include:
Anne Ferguson, Safer, Connected Communities, Stirling Council
Martin Higgitt, Martin Higgitt Associates Limited
Jenny Milne, Owner and Strategic Development Director, JLM
